Zix is a secure email service that our business employs to guarantee that our employees may communicate to one another and to other businesses, both inside and outside of our organization, to assist boost the health and happiness of our customers. Along with enabling us to archive our emails, it also enables us to send and receive e-mails in a safe and confident manner.
  • Zix is a back-end service that is simple to use.
  • Excellent response to the needs of the client.
  • Using the secure gateway, you may safely communicate critical information.
  • The admin interface seems a bit shabby. It's time for a refresher course.
  • Being able to modify our own security word without having to contact Zix.
  • Users may not enjoy needing to log in to access messages through the secure site.
I have already recommended Zix to a number of our coworkers in the home healthcare industry, and a number of those coworkers also use Zix, which makes it quite simple to connect with one another. Because it pertains to health care, which is an industry in which it is vital to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity, we also utilize it within our own organization to communicate with one another.
  • The technology was quickly adopted by the entire agency.
  • Because not all home healthcare organizations are aware that this service is accessible to them, the ability to send secure emails is essential.
  • Bringing this proposal to the agency was a breeze.
Our most common use of Zix is to send emails, and it's quite simple to do so. I'm not sure how to log in to the Zix homepage and obtain the data that way because that's a new step for me. To be honest, I've never had the urge to do so, and I'm not sure what it has to offer in that regard.
Customer service from Zix has been excellent. I've contacted them by phone and e-mail. An email from Zix was sent to another email provider, and I wanted to make sure it had been delivered correctly. As far as the Zix admin portal is concerned, this email was sent around 45 days ago. It took the Support Team under two hours to respond.
We used to be customers of Virtru, but we found that their feature set was neither nearly as comprehensive nor as user-friendly as Zix's. In addition, we acquired Cisco Ironport but struggled with getting it configured properly. The interface was outdated and difficult to use, and the process to set it up required three phone conversations with professionals. The Zix interface, although not being the most aesthetically pleasing, was simple to manage.

Support is very top notch, setup was well provided for. Migrating to new platform after they purchased AppRiver. Our whole organization use it. We use it to protect our users against email threats before they come to our servers.
  • Support is very responsive and timely. I have used both the online portal, email submission as well as telephone. All of my interactions with them have been superior!
  • When we have had an issue and it was a false positive, they are quick to react and allow it.
  • In the beginning they had a difficult phone structure to manage, however that has changed and it is much simpler.
  • When submitting claims online they could have an optional field for an Internal service ticket number.
We have the encryption piece as well as email filtering and they are very superior products compared to others I have used in the past. They have an Outlook plugin to send encrypted mail. Works very well. The plugin is very simple to install. We have it set up for all of our users.
  • We were using Symantec in the past and compared to Zix Email Threat Protection, it's like comparing a VW bug to a Corvette. And they blow other competition out of the water.
Older interface was difficult to find what you wanted. New interface is a dramatic improvement. Very well thought out for the end user. Very intuitive and easy to find what you are looking for.
False reporting and lack of onsite users' experience with the product. All reports I ran would come back with inaccurate information.

We are a healthcare non-profit. We have to comply with various security regulations including HIPAA, PCI, FERPA, etc. We needed a solution to be used across the entire organization. Zix automatically scans each outgoing message and ensures that protect information is encrypted or in the case of PCI, the information is quarantined and never is delivered.
  • Easy to use, Zix works behind the scenes.
  • The secure portal is great for sending sensitive data securely.
  • The secure portal feature set is robust, allowing to delete messages, recall, etc.
  • Great customer service.
  • The secure portal is great but some end users do not like having to log in to see messages.
  • The admin interface is kind of dated looking. Needs some updating.
Zix is great. In our organization, we have some staff that are very techy and some where technology is a struggle. Zix just works. End users can send emails and Zix scans and quarantines emails if needed. Staff and IT admins are alerted, IT can review the message, and staff has the ability to self-release (if configured that way).

After reviewing several other vendors/solutions. Zix is an incredible cloud-hosted solution, so no need to have a server onsite. Customer service has been great on setting up the initial ruleset, and the few times we needed some additional help on pulling reports.

Reporting is also great on Zix. You can track messages, see if a message was read (if using the secure portal), expire the message, etc.
  • The entire agency easily adopted the technology.
  • Peace of mind on securing email.
  • Was one of the easiest projects to deploy to the agency.
Zix gets a perfect 10 out of 10. End users can just work. With our previous solution, staff would have to determine if a message had sensitive information and then send it securely. Zix scans each message and ensures that the message does not fail into one of the pre-defined rulesets.
Zix customer support has been great. I have used their telephone support and email support. Recently, I emailed support to verify that an email was sent successfully from Zix to another email provider. The Zix admin portal allows you to see 30 days back and this email was approximately 45 days back. The Support Team got back to me with a response in under 2 hours.
We were formerly a Virtru customer, and the feature set was not as robust nor as user friendly as Zix. We also purchased Cisco Ironport and had trouble with configuration. Three phone calls with technicians to set up and the interface was old and antiquated. The Zix interface, although not the prettiest, was easy to administer.

Zix is being used by my company to address the need for secure, encrypted emails, both with our partners who are also in the Zix network, and externally with third parties and clients who are outside of the Zix network. Zix also provides us with a comprehensive spam filtering package that filters emails, and tests any links clicked from within an email by our users.
  • Email Encryption - Their protocols are secure, and the process to encrypt is completely customizable with different methods available to provide ease of use for our employees at different levels of computer knowledge.
  • Spam Filtering - Thus far their spam filtering has been top notch and the configuration options provided allow for a very detailed level of granularity depending on user and department.
  • Corporate branding - With any encrypted emails sent by our organization, they are branded prominently for us with our logos and name which aids significantly in maintaining a professional appearance.
  • The only area I've found that needs work is in creating a custom filter rule. They have the option available but it didn't work as well as it should without contacting support. They had to bounce it to a higher level of support so it could be addressed on the development end. However it was resolved quickly and they did whatever they had to do to make it work as it should.
  • There was some issue with communication between their sales department and the deployment team who assisted us, however they were able to get the issues resolved quickly so it was a minimal issue.
Very well suited and painless with their email encryption solution for small businesses and medium sized organizations like the one I work for. I can't imagine there would be any issues with even larger organizations either. Also their spam filtering works great for the same small/medium organizations. I'm not sure how well it would translate to larger organizations.
  • It keeps our client data secure in transit, aiding us in compliance to HIPPA and other required standards, which also lends to peace of mind.
  • It greatly minimizes the time spent combing through email to sort and deal with junk/spam.
  • It minimizes the risk of employees inadvertently clicking infected links from within emails, opening our network to larger threats. This alone saves time and money as it decreases the time spent by our IT department in dealing with information security issues and system recovery that we might otherwise face.
Zix has top-notch customizability with the way emails can be encrypted. It can be configured to add a button to Outlook, to encrypted with a subject keyword, to encrypt automatically based on types of information in an email, and it works with Outlook, and with the Office365 Outlook Web Application. The interfaces, both with encryption and spam filtering are well designed and incredibly intuitive for the admin team to use also.
Several times spammers change up their methods to get through common spam filters. All we've had to do was forward the message to Zix support and within hours they had new filters developed and in place to stop them. Another time I needed to develop a custom filter to allow a certain type of message through and they worked with me to help me develop a targeted filter that kept me from having to just whitelist someone's email address. They replied to my initial email in minutes and stuck with me until I was sure it was working as needed.
Security, compliance, cost, and ease of use.
400
All across the board use it for encryption and depend on it to filter spam.
  • HIPPA complaint email encryption
  • Spam filtering
  • Link checking
  • The link checking feature had been incredibly useful. I didn't realize initially how much of a workout we'd put that through.
  • Not sure. We use it pretty fully for what it does right now.
It did delivers exactly what is needed, what was promised, is cost effective, and is incredibly easy to use and manage.

Basic computer knowledge is all that is required, but knowledge of filter rules and all that help.
Yes
We initial needed it for email encryption and had no prior software for that but it did replace Xeams as a spam filter. We needed to replace it because the free version was no longer supported and the paid version was out of our price range for what it provided. Zix is also much simpler to manage.
I can't imagine it being any easier than it was with Zix. Their reputation is solid and was touted well by other organizations that used them.
Great, knowledgeable, fast, friendly, definitely an on the ball team.

Zix, as you know, is an email gateway solution that helps prevent spam along with some DLP functions. In today's business spam is so abundant and constant that it not only becomes a security concern, but also an issue in terms of resource management. Zix helps our business in this regard.
  • Customizable DLP filters.
  • Easy management.
  • Management interfaces are not that intuitive.
  • Customer support is not as attentive as other products.
While I was not fully involved in the overall Zix solution implementation for the company, I do know that it went better as expected for our large-scale infrastructure; evidently the user database integration was done through an incremental approach in order to reduce the impact on operation environments and most users were informed about the change in order to monitor for any deployment issues. I think this would be even easier on short-scale implementation.
  • Better resource management.
  • Better DLP.
The different pages and controls have a feeling of the bare minimum to them as if the GUI was done without too much effort. This doesn't mean that this solution isn't very capable, on the contrary, but it is sometimes hard to leverage its full potential due to its poor layout making it not very intuitive to use. Very customizable but not so user-friendly.
I was not directly involved in the decision to purchase for this product but I got to understand that some costs needed to be reduced. It also came at a time where a merger was taking place so a simpler, cheaper, almost as good as Cisco solution was required to address the overall needs.
